Align yourself with like-minded businesses. It is so important to not go alone but work with people and businesses who are on the same page as you and what you stand for.

Enter awards whether this is just for your specific industry or overall business awards back yourself and put yourself out there. The processes Is a great way to access your business. I always say If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. This is also great networking opportunities when attending the awards and also good brand awareness too. The more complex awards we enter I use our submissions as a great overview of our business when we need to go to the bank for any additional funding. If you happen to win an award don’t rely on others to promote it for you, sing it to the world yourself as no one does it as well as you personally.

Aligning yourself with a great mentor. I don’t always think it has to be from the same industry but needs to be someone you respect and inspire to be like. People I mentor we have similar visions and aspirations but are from different industries, which I think is good to give comparatives of what is happening overall different environments. Don’t be frightened to be challenged and pushed to new heights by your mentor. It’s good to have that confidence to be able to talk about challenges and new ideas with someone outside of your business.

Consult a BAS or Tax professional before you get too far into your business as starting off on the right foot first can save you a lot of unnecessary grief and stress.

Measure your return on investment, ring your competitors, what are they doing and charging? Educate yourself in your industry, dot the ‘i’s and cross the t’s’ so to speak.

Have a plan B.  Always calculate what will be your safety net if a business decision doesn’t plan out the way you intended it to.  Always ensure your cash flow position is monitored, and if you don’t know something ask someone you trust, the worst thing you can do is push it under the rug, shelve it or put your head in the sand.

Natasha Morgan, My Home Watch
My best advice would be, really spend time researching the industry or business you wish to start, see who your competition is, and how you’re going to be different.

Find something you’re really passionate about, it won’t feel like hard work if it’s something you really connect with and feel happy about!

Spend time researching the industry or business you wish to start. See who your competition is, and how you’re going to be different.

Look and see if there is a hole in the market where you can solve a problem for people.

Check the size of the market you are trying to sell your product or services to…

Have fun building quality products or services that are going to make you stand out in the market!
