Queensland’s Minister for Small Business, Leeanne Enoch, has announced that the Suncorp Group will be a gold sponsor for 2016 Queensland Small Business Week.
“It’s great to have a major supporter of Queensland communities and small business on board to help make this a real success,” said Minister Enoch.
Suncorp Banking and Wealth CEO, John Nesbitt, said Suncorp was proud to strengthen its connections with Queensland’s small business community through its support of Small Business Week.
There are over 400,000 small businesses in Queensland, employing half of all employees in the private jobs sector.
“Small and medium sized businesses are the backbone of Australia’s economy and Suncorp is committed to supporting the growth, success and sustainability of this important sector,” said Mr Nesbitt.
“A great deal can be learnt from the experiences of others, and Small Business Week will provide business owners with the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and likeminded operators to gain a fresh perspective and tangible insights to build resilience and support their business.”
Events will be held in Brisbane, Logan, Cairns, Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Toowoomba from 16-21 May 2016. These will include workshops and circuit sessions around the themes of collaboration, partnerships, innovation and digital disruption. There will also be webinars, training sessions and networking functions.
The event is part of the Palaszczuk Government’s $180 million Advance Queensland initiative to provide support to small businesses.
