SEEK’s latest Employment report has revealed an overall improvement in job growth and employment trends between 2018 and 2017.
According to the data, 2018 was a strong year for the Australian employment market with new job ads up 8.6 per cent over the 12 months and advertised salaries up on average 3.9 per cent.
Kendra Banks, Managing Director, SEEK ANZ says the report bodes well for Aussie jobseekers.
“It is good news for jobseekers that the 2018 employment market was stronger than the year prior. More encouraging is that growth in the employment market has come from a diverse range of industries. There is demand for candidates that can carry out highly technical roles, to those who can support the frontline service needs of our population such as in healthcare roles.” Banks said.
Industries to experience growth included a rise in Insurance and Superannuation jobs of 13 per cent in 2018 compared to 2017 and healthcare and ICT roles which were up 12 per cent.
Interestingly trades and services contributed to the greatest proportion of national job ad growth for 2018. Comparing to 2017, new job ads in Trades and Services were up 14 per cent, with growth experienced in the sector across all states.
