Square, the payments technology company founded by Jack Dorsey, recently launched Square Reader, the smallest, most mobile and most affordable card payments device in market, in Australia in March.
CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey visited Melbourne and Sydney early last month to meet with small business owners who were the early adopters of Square in the local market.
“We’re empowering local sellers with the tools they need to start, run, and grow their businesses. Our launch in Australia is an important step for our company and an exciting moment for a market so committed to innovation and an entrepreneurial small business community,” the Californian-based CEO said.
Square hosted Talk Shop with Square in Melbourne, where a panel of local small business owners discussed the small business community, challenges and lessons they’ve taken along their respective journeys.
Square Reader has been rapidly adopted by small to medium sized businesses, including cafes, retailers, market traders, food trucks, tradies, consultants, service providers and many more since it’s launch earlier this year.
Square Reader plugs into the headphone jack of your smartphone or tablet, allowing you to accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit and debit cards within minutes. It costs $19, and is available online at square.com.au or in Officeworks, Bunnings and Apple stores.
