In the lead up to Click Frenzy ‘Mayhem’ on Tuesday, May 21, Criteo has released new data showing online sales can increase by up to 45 per cent during Click Frenzy week.
Criteo analysed verified traffic and sales data from 56 million online shopping transactions across 151 Australian retailers, to discover a number of trends during Click Frenzy. Criteo revealed Australian online sales jumped from 8 per cent to 45 percent during Click Frenzy, proving the phenomenon is a boon for Aussie retailers with an online presence.
The retail sectors to receive the biggest bump from Click Frenzy sales were Fashion (73 per cent), Health & Beauty (62 per cent) and Home (21 per cent), with Health & Beauty sales increasing by 105 per cent on the day before Click Frenzy.
Currently, Australia’s eCommerce market is worth 23 billion, but this figure is expected to grow by more than 37 per cent over the next three years to be worth almost US$40 billion by 2022. Meanwhile, Aussie consumers’ passion to buy when they like, how they like, has seen a significant shift in mobile usage. Click Frenzy reports 56 per cent of shoppers now use their mobile to access Click Frenzy deals (compared to 55 per cent in 2017 and 43 per cent in 2016) as opposed to 33 per cent using desktop and 11 per cent using a tablet.
In a bid to capitalise on the consumer appetite for online spending, Criteo suggests many Australian businesses invest in key sales events like Black Friday and Click Frenzy.
