Gold Coast natural skincare company MooGoo is ramping up its ‘green points’ for Plastic Free July by offering discounted refills to consumers.
Melody Livingstone, the brains behind the plant-loving brand, which is beloved by celebs and consumers alike, says MooGoo is always seeking solutions to minimise their impact on the environment.
“AtMooGoo we’re planet lovers and are always looking for new ways to try and reduce our environmental impact,” says Livingstone.
“We know how many plastic bottles end up in landfills every year instead of being recycled, so we’re trying to reduce the number of plastic bottles we use and encourage our customers to do the same. We know we can’t go 100 per cent plastic-free at the moment, but we try our best. One of those ways is trying to reduce the amount of plastic bottles we use and encourage our customers to do it as well.
With this in mind, the brand is holding a refill event to encourage customers to buy in bulk and refill.
“We refill any container as long as it is clean. Some of our most notable have been tomato sauce bottles and beer bottles,” laughs Livingstone.
Still, the entrepreneur knows this isn’t enough. So MooGoo does what it can to lessen its own carbon footprint. Tubes of MooGoo products are made with 30 per cent post-consumer recycled (PCR) and are recyclable at end of life, and the business makes its bottles with plastic that would have otherwise gone to landfill.
After the Plastic Free July sales event, Livingstone says the brand will continue to offer discounted refill sales monthly, moving forward to encourage consumers to opt for greener solutions.
“Customers can pop in for refills at any time, but these ‘events’ will be an ongoing initiative and allow us to remind people that this is a service we offer,” adds Melody.
Adhering to social distancing due to the current coronavirus pandemic, MooGoo has placed a limit of five customers in the refill area at one time – excluding staff. There is also a hand sanitiser station at the door and masks available for those that would like to use them. Contactless payment methods are preferable too as an additional safety measure.
Consumers can drop into MooGoo at Burleigh Heads, between 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday to grab a refill. ‘Til July 31 you can ‘Refill & Save’ 30 per cent off a range of MooGoo products as part of Plastic-Free July.
