How Order Up and Bolt Bikes are helping restaurants to survive the pandemic

Online ordering platform, Order Up! and e-bike startup, Bolt Bikes are offering an immediate, cost-effective solution for Australia’s hospitality industry to stay operational during the COVID-19 crisis.

With pubs and clubs, restaurants and cafes all forced to close their doors and offer delivery and takeaway options only, these two startups have developed an al-in-one order and delivery service so small businesses can get orders out to customers with ease.

An end-to-end solution, Order Up! allows restaurants and cafes to manage their online ordering, payments and delivery logistics under their own brand. The startup is offering free setup and big discounts on fees to help small businesses get started. While Bolt Bikes (a leading local e-Bike brand) is offering a commission-free opportunity for businesses to provide their existing team with jobs as delivery riders. Bike rental subscriptions start from $69/week and includes full maintenance and a long-lasting battery to meet business and customer demand.

To further support the wider community, Bolt has created a Bolt Jobs noticeboard, to directly connect its network of over 1,000 delivery riders looking for more work with local businesses requiring delivery riders. The service is 100% free to use, with Bolt creating it to solve an urgent need.

Bolt CEO and cofounder Mina Nada said they created the Jobs Board to connect the community and instigate immediate job opportunities,

“It takes the pressure off both business and rider. It was a common question being asked of us and urgent for our team to implement. It’s important for our community to support one another as best as we can during this tough time.”

Marije, General Manager of iconic Bondi cafe, Orchard St said that this solution has supported her business during an uncertain time.

“Order Up! and Bolt came at a time when we needed a quick and affordable solution to service our local community, plus most importantly, look after our team with jobs. They’ve been a great support in a situation when we really don’t know what’s around the corner.”

With the future of eating out uncertain, CEO and Founder of Order Up!, John Saadie recommends implementing a digital presence as quickly as possible, but choosing providers carefully to ensure they can provide a stable, trusted, and most importantly, secure solution.

“During this time of self-isolation, businesses need to look at connecting with their customers quickly and efficiently through new online practices. This accessibility will allow customers to order from the safety of their own homes and businesses to operate as best as possible during this time,” Saadie said.
