When it comes to Valentine’s Day we often assume florists, jewellers and restaurants are the businesses that really benefit from this romantic celebration and not the rest of us. But it doesn’t have to be this way because every single business can embrace Valentine’s Day to connect with their customers and attract new ones. Here a four steps to take to do just that.
1. Value Customers
Remind existing customers they are valued. Send them a card telling them how much you appreciate their support and include a (discount) voucher for your services. This is personalised customer attention that could lead to more business for you and word of mouth promotion. Your customers will feel special and will feel compelled to remain loyal. Often the best source of new business is from existing customers.
Have a raffle or competition in the lead up to Valentine’s Day with your services or product as the prize. This can help increase engagement on social media and get people talking about your business. You could even ask customers to post a selfie with your product.
Work with other businesses to cross-promote each other on Valentine’s Day. You could negotiate a deal with a restaurant to promote them to your customers in exchange for dinner vouchers for some of your clients.
4. Get Creative
Video content can have enormous reach so there’s no reason why you can’t create a 30 second video about your business with a Valentine’s Day theme. Have everyone in the office come up with ideas and have fun creating it. If you prefer simply decorate the office and post pictures on social media. Have fun and it will put a smile on people’s faces.
Regardless of your type of business it is possible to find ways to market a product or service around any celebration, including Valentine’s Day. Showing customers you appreciate them on Valentine’s Day gives you the element of surprise. It’s not like Christmas when your appreciation could get lost in the sea of gifts and cards. Your thoughtfulness will stand out and don’t be surprised if customers take the time to pick up the phone and personally thank you.
