GoFundMe introduces free platform and Donor Protection Guarantee

In an Australian first, GoFundMe has introduced free crowdfunding and a new donor protection platform which will ensure donors and recipients never have to worry should something go awry and a refund is required.

The world’s largest social fundraising platform now offers a 0% platform fee providing Australians with a safe quick way to support the products and causes they care about.

To date more than AUD $200 million has been raised for Australians on GoFundMe. Aussies have started over 100,000 campaigns and in the past twelve months over 70,000 donors from throughout the globe have generously donated to Australian GoFundMe projects.

“We are always looking for ways to make fundraising easier, faster, and more successful,” said Rob Solomon, CEO of GoFundMe. “With more than two million Australians donating to a GoFundMe campaign, Australia has quickly become one of our fastest-growing giving communities. We’re excited to offer a free platform to make it possible for more Australians to get the direct help they need, as quickly as possible, for any cause that’s important to them.”

Solomon is also proud to launch of the GoFundMe guarantee  which gives donors and recipients piece of mind.

“GoFundMe wouldn’t exist without the empathy of our giving community, and the GoFundMe Guarantee is about protecting their generosity,” said Solomon. “We want there to be complete peace of mind when giving on our platform and the guarantee adds an unparalleled layer of security to all stages of the giving experience. Donors and campaign organisers are fully protected.”

Under the GoFundMe Guarantee, the growing number of Australian donors will be protected by a refund policy, building on GoFundMe’s already exceptional fraud-prevention technology and dedicated team of global trust and safety experts.

Launched in 2010, GoFundMe is the world’s largest social fundraising platform, with over $5 billion raised so far. With a community of more than 50 million donors, GoFundMe is changing the way the world gives.
