How much money are you spending on subscriptions? If you’re like me, you probably don’t know. A new app, GetReminded, aims to change all that and save you a bundle while you’re at it.
A free app for desktop, iOS and Android smartphones, GetReminded allows users to set reminders for when it’s time to renew their subscriptions, contracts, policies and documents to avoid renewing unused services.
Research shows three out of five Australians are wasting money on subscription services they don’t use, spending about $3.9 billion every year on unused paid apps, subscription services and memberships. Parent are increasingly finding their kids’ multiplying gaming, streaming and music subscriptions especially hard to track and they’re not the only ones.
GetReminded is the brainchild of three strangers who met in an Uber. the trio all confessed to having overpaid for household services simply because they needed to be reminded when contracts and subscriptions were about to expire. They don’t overpay anymore. In fact, they save money. Co-founder Silje Dreyer, of GetReminded believes by downloading her app, you can too.
“People can save as much as $3,000 a year simply by knowing when their contracts are due for renewal for services like mobile phone, electricity, car insurance, home and pet insurances,” said Dreyer.
“People are time-poor and many avoid taking action on their finances because they don’t know where to start.
“GetReminded enables you to know exactly what you are paying for and when your contract is ending, so you have time to shop around and take advantage of the latest deals instead of staying with providers looking after new customers rather than loyal ones.”
