Fiverr’s Small Business Needs Index reveals Aussie businesses are spending up big on freelancers as they make the shift to online. Digital services in demand include youtube video editing, social posting and Squarespace web design.
Pandemic pushes digital-first options
The semi-annual index tracks the services that small business owners are using to succeed in a digital-first world. Prior to the pandemic many of Australia’s small business owners lacked a digital presence. As the coronavirus crisis pushed digital transformation upon them, small business owners turned to freelancers to fill their knowledge and skills gaps.
The index reveals Australian small business owners have turned to content-led platforms such as YouTube and Instagram to grow their online presence to reach and engage consumers. The move has facilitated an increased demand for short and long-form video content, static images and animated posts.
Social network services in demand
Peggy de Lange, VP of International Expansion at Fiverr says the data highlights the importance of an effective, visually appealing website to anchor an online presence.
“It has always been necessary for small business owners to stay on top of the latest trends to connect with their customers,” commented de Lange. “Many Australian small business owners are adapting their online presence to set themselves up for success in the months and years to come. We are committed to identifying the types of services Australian small businesses need, and providing them with access to skilled professionals who can help them reach those goals.”
On top of the usual challenges small businesses face of adapting to changing customer needs, it’s clear that over the past six months many have had to adhere to in-person closures and figure out how to successfully move their businesses online.
The top ten fastest-growing searches on a global scale over the previous six months include:
