Did you know 70 per cent – or 1.5 million – of Aussie small businesses are family-run? From breweries to boutiques, corner stores to caterers, Australia’s family businesses not only employ millions of workers and keep the economy ticking, but also clothe us, feed us, care for us, and even entertain us. Small businesses are the lifeblood of Australia’s economy, isn’t it time we gave them the credit they deserve?
Kochie’s Business Builders in partnership with Yellow Online wants to shine a light on these pillars of our local community and reveal what makes Australian family businesses so great.
Through the search to find Australia’s Favourite Family Business, we want to celebrate Australia’s family businesses and thank them for all the hard yards they put in to help our communities – and the nation – prosper.
Sunrise host and family business owner David Koch said many of Australia’s most popular businesses have been built from the blood, sweat and tears of families.
“These family dynasties, big and small are the unsung heroes of Australia. They not only employ us, they drive innovation and create opportunities that benefit the whole community. We want to celebrate them and show Australia just how unique and extraordinary these family businesses are.”
Cinzia Cozzolino founder of Smoothie Bombs, the winner of the 2018 Australia’s Favourite Family Business award said the win raised the brand’s profile nationally.
“It was a fantastic experience for us. It gave us a lot of brand recognition, many more customers and increased our orders. Plus we got to meet Kochie,” she laughs.
Cinzia encourages other family business owners to enter the competition. “if you’re thinking of entering definitely go and do it – it was a fantastic experience for us, and i know it will be that for you too.”
Elise Balsillie, General Manager, Yellow Sales.said the brand was excited to be partnering with KBB on the Favourite Family Business initiative.
“As Australia’s largest online business directory, Yellow works with thousands of family run businesses and are excited to support a program that celebrates this part of our community.”
Entry to the competition is now open. Businesses can self-nominate for the title of Australia’s Favourite Family Business. Entries close November 28, 2019.
Entrants will be shortlisted, with the top candidates announced and put to a public vote to decide who is Australia’s favourite.
The winning business will receive national exposure via a segment on Kochie’s Business Builders in 2020.
