Australia’s leading online small business retailers recognised at the 2016 StarTrack Online Retail Industry Awards

Last night, the success of Australia’s leading online retailers was recognised and celebrated at the 2016 StarTrack Online Retail Industry Awards (ORIAS) gala.

Hosted at Dockside Pavilion in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, the evening culminated with the highly anticipated StarTrack ORIAS People’s Choice Award – the only category that gives online shoppers the power to determine “Australia’s favourite online retailer”.

Deals website, Catch Of The Day took the gong home for the StarTrack ORIAS People’s Choice Award after establishing itself as a top online destination for thousands of deals on the latest streetwear, fashion, homewares, toys, groceries and more.

Adam Rudy, Head of Customer Experience at Catch Of The Day said, “We’re thrilled to win this award. Over the past few years, our business has gone from strength to strength but it’s this award that is the pinnacle of recognition, because it is our consumers who have voted for us and, without them, we wouldn’t exist.”

This year’s awards also saw the introduction of a brand new category to recognise and celebrate smaller online retailers, with Brisbane-based Beserk – an alternative clothing store – taking out the People’s Choice Award for Small Business.

This has been the second – and biggest-ever – year of the StarTrack ORIAS People’s Choice Award with around 100,000 loyal online shoppers voting for 750 of their favourite online retailers, ranging from familiar household names to Aussie start-ups.

Appliances Online was also a big winner, taking out Best Pureplay Online Retailer and Online Retailer of the Year, and getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. won Best Small Independent Retailer, while Harvey Norman took out Best Multichannel Retailer and Tiny Me won Best Site Optimisation and Design. Best Online Retail Marketing Initiative went to Nourished Life, Booktopia won Best Mobile Commerce, Mecca was awarded Best Social Commerce, and Birdsnest won Best Customer Service.

The International Conqueror award went to stationary store kikki.K and John Winning of the Winning Group was given the ORIA Industry Recognition Award.
