We’ve searched high and low across Australia for the past month to find the winner of our Innovators competition in partnership with Peugeot Professional and we can finally reveal the winner.
We received hundreds of entries vying for the title of 2022 Innovator and our judges selected five finalists from the pack. It was then over to you to decide which business deserved the title.
We can finally reveal the 2022 Innovator is… Foura!.
Foura crowned 2022 Innovators competition winner
Mates not dates is the mantra at Foura, a site that matches you with three other like-minded people to meet up for conversation and outings in Sydney.
Foura founder Tam says it’s a simple concept.
“Members simply tell us about their hobbies, interests, experiences and values and then we compare their profiles to all of our other members.
“We then match them up with three people they share a lot in common with and then book a table for the four of them to meet in a pub or cafe. No swiping, no small talk over chat, no awkward bios and no admin. Just rock up, be yourself and have a good time.”
Tam says being crowned the 2022 Innovator is “bloody brilliant”.
“I get a lot of feedback from people who like the idea of Foura but to be recognised in this way, especially when we were up against some awesome other business, is really exciting and really humbling. I’m grateful to everyone who voted for us.”
Australia a nation of Innovators
Cec Busby, editor of Kochie’s Business Builders said the Innovators competition has revealed the ingenuity of Australian businesses.
“It’s been a tough couple of years for Aussie startups and small businesses so it was incredible to see that some of our Innovators (including our winner) formed their businesses during the pandemic. It takes guts and resilience to back yourself in a time of crisis and these business owners have that in spades.
“Our winner, Foura, also directly addresses an issue so many people have faced since coming out of the pandemic – how to connect or reconnect with mates. I’m excited to see how Foura will grow in the coming months, particularly when so many people are feeling social anxiety. Foura’s premise makes it easy to meet up with like-minded souls for fun and conversation,” Busby concludes.
Our 2022 Innovators finalists are:
Food2Soil
Foura (winner)
Kiddikutter
Squizify
Brivvi
“The competition was incredibly close, coming down to handful of votes,” said Busby. “I want to congratulate all five of our finalists for making Australia a better place with their business innovations and I look forward to hearing more about their stories as we interview them in the coming weeks.”
