She says she was heavily influenced by floristry after being surrounded by eucalyptus trees and rose bushes. She is known for her soft, romantic and antique style of roses mixed with native foliage.

Redcliffe City Florist is a family business run by Sonya Johnson which was established 35 years ago. When Sonya was four-years-old, her parents purchased a business, which evolved into a convenient store. They ran this for almost 24 years and during that time, they created a separate floristry and began focussing on this as their main business along with a next door cafe. These have both grown so there are now roughly 20 staff working in both the floristry and the cafe.

It is located in Mackay’s two largest shopping centres and every delivery is done in-house.
